For more than a week now, I’ve been sleeping past midnight trying to work on my blog design. It has been a month since I launched this blog, but I am not even halfway in fixing everything til now.
Even the basics – I don’t have an ABOUT page yet, my old posts are not updated (all photos bear my old blog name and domain), I haven’t finalized my categories & labels, and the overall design does not exactly reflect what I want for my ideal blog. I mean, it doesn’t feel like “me”. I want it to look fresh, clean, elegant, lively and inspiring, but I can’t pinpoint what is lacking or which I need to change.
Honestly, this is getting so frustrating. As for the design, I’ve watched a lot of video tutorials and read some How-To blogs on basic theme/template changes, but they are not working. I’m not sure what’s wrong, but I can’t figure things out. And since I can’t make big modifications to my template, I tried to change themes a couple of times to check which suit my blog vision. Having a very limited technical knowledge on setting up a blog, I had to do a number of “trial and error”.
I somehow regret my haste decision in telling everyone about this new blog. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to just jump out there, unprepared. I was too excited to share, even when this wasn’t fully working yet. But I can’t blame myself since I had a few posts to publish. And aside from the increasing pending blog posts now, I also have a loooooong list of “Blog Design To-Dos”.
Now, every little issue has piled up and turned into big frustrations. I think I could go on and on all day about the things I haven’t completed on my blog, but really, what can it do? NOTHING.
Geez! All I want to do is just cry and punch this computer! Like really hard!! Aaaaaaaahhhh DAMMIT!!
Alright, calm down, Rose! Just inhale. Exhale. Take a deep breath and let’s settle this like how WRITERS do. You said you are a writer, right? 😀
Okay, okay. Got it. I know this ranting is not gonna help me finish my tasks, but at least I feel better now. Venting out, somehow, decluttered my mind. 🙂
Anyway, despite the challenging blog set up, I’m pretty glad I got to create a simple yet lovely (for me!
) header and logo. Though I still have to fix it to be responsive, I am happy to see little changes now. Good changes. 😉
And to save myself from all of the blogging headaches, I was thinking of temporarily taking down this blog for maintenance. But since I can’t assure if I’d be able to fix everything within a specific time, it might not be a good idea to leave this blog as “UNDER CONSTRUCTION”.
Well, I think I’ll just stick to making little changes for now. I believe these small changes, in time, will give the best blog design result in the near future. Crossing my fingers. 🙂
