MV Logos Hope Returns to Cebu
The World’s largest floating book fair has finally returned to Cebu last Tuesday morning, as it’s second visit since 2012, and officially welcomed the public yesterday at 1pm, where Zooey and I got to visit at around 5pm. If reading is your happy pill, be sure to visit this world-travelling vessel. MV Logos Hope is operated by German charity group GBA (Good Books for All) and has over 400 volunteers from more than 50 different nations. It aims to bring knowledge, help, and hope to the people around the world by offering thousands of books at affordable prices and holding cultural events, introducing unique cultures of Africa, Americas, Europe and Asia.
Can I get a WOW, anyone? Yeyeyaahh!! 🙂
The moment I read an online news about it’s return, my eyes widened in awe, I grinded my teeth with excitement, and felt like my heart just skipped a beat!
OH. MY. GEE. For the love of reading, I will not dare miss this!!!
MV Logos Hope ambassador 2015 lol 😊😚🚢📖
I immediately told Zooey that we’ll be going to the book fair since she also loves reading and likes going to bookstores with me, plus the fact that she hasn’t been on a ship yet makes it a perfect date for us. Though she wasn’t exactly sure what to expect, she got too excited, all because I shared the news with so much enthusiasm! Haha (I’m that kind of mom who loves to share small things with so much thrill and Zooey is that kind of girl who reacts with the happiest face even before hearing what I have to say! Hahaha :D)

Books Overload

Each book is priced in units. 1 Unit = 1 PHP, so 25 units costs Php25, 100 units is Php100, and so on. 😉 The cheapest book costs 25 pesos, while I haven’t found any beyond Php700 (though I think the most pricey is at Php1000 – but not even that expensive for a really good book, right bookworms?). Also, from what I heard from the onboard announcements you can pay through cash in PHP, USD, and another currency- which I think is EURO (not sure with the last one). I don’t think they accept credit/debit cards so better bring some cash even if you’re just planning to “take a sneak” inside the world’s largest floating book fair. Really, it’s impossible to just “window shop” at MV Logos Hope, so bring some extra extra extra cash if you don’t want to regret going home without the good reads. How I wish I had a bigger budget for this!

SAVINGS TIP: If you’re really planning to buy books, be sure to visit MV Logos Hope anytime today and get a copy of the Discount Flyer at the ship’s front desk. Present the flyer at the checkout counter to get 15% discount, valid until today only. Honestly, I just happened to get a copy of the flyer (I’m fond of getting flyers/brochures/freebies at any event! Hahaha) and wasn’t aware of the discount coupon until the guy at the checkout noticed I was holding one and said”Oh you have the discount coupon!”. Great deal, I paid Php465.50 instead of Php550 for the four items. (The rest were given as free literature. Just grabbed them all! LOL)
Parenting Collection by Dr. James Dobson (compiling his 3 best-sellers into one book) -Php300; Humble Bumbles Humble Heart, a book of virtues by Amy Meyer Allen (9 stories about life lessons rolled into an awesome animal illustration storybook) -Php100; Miles Kelly Little Press Rapunzel Story Time (a handy bedtime storybook with easy-to-read texts and clean graphics- pleasing to the eyes for both toddlers & preschooler and parents) -Php50; and Disney Princess Crayons 32 pieces –Php100.

Zooey begged forever to have these crayons and we had a sort of conversation like this (in our dialect):
- Zooey: Pleaseeee crayons mommy!
- Me: Seriously, Zooey?! We just bought 2 brand new crayons the past two weeks and one set wasn’t even used yet! Plus, these seemed pricey, we can buy a similar one somewhere at a cheaper price.
- Zooey: Mommy pleaseee. Crayons pleaseee!
- Me: No, you already have a book. You have to choose between a book and these crayons.
- Zooey: Book AND crayonssss. pleaseeee.
- Me: Nope. I have a fun craft idea. We can just buy princess stickers instead and stick them to your crayons. Or print out similar labels.
- Zooey: pleaseeeee crayonsssss pleaseeee
- Me: That’s out of our budget. We can buy two books for you instead. That’s better than having those crayons which I AM SURE you and your little brother could easily break, even before starting your coloring activity!
- Zooey: Pleaseeee mommyyyyy.. crayonssss pleasee please pleaseeee!
- Me: Okay okay okay, promise me you’ll take care of that!
Then we proceeded to the checkout counter before she’ll make more requests. lol

As much as I tried to convince her, it turned the other way around and I was the one convinced. That parenting moment when all your fancy words fall on deaf ears and your kid just responds with “please please please” in a soft persuasive way.. Hmmm well played, Zooey!
Actually, I gave in because 1) I can sense her love for all things crayons and princesses, 2) She wasn’t even crying nor whining nor demanding, she just consistently tried her best to be sweet, excited, and hopeful in saying her “pleaseeee” just to get my YES, 3) I have never seen a similar 32-piece Disney Princess crayons in such good quality ever, and 4) She will be more interested in coloring, which I hope will continue til she grows older.
Haaay, Zooey! Are you growing up to be a crayon collector or something?! LOL
